Drawing inspiration from the ancestral home in Hyderabad, the architects embarked on a journey to recreate the magic of togetherness in a modern context.
Nostalgic Roots
The genesis of Nostalgia House lies in the fond memories of ‘Doodhbaori’, the ancestral home near Charminar in Hyderabad. The desire to immortalize these cherished memories led to the construction of a twin house building, symbolizing unity through shared spaces and experiences.
Evolution of Design
From its inception, the project aimed to preserve the legacy and traditions of a courtyard-centric home. The design process became a nostalgic endeavor, weaving together stories and experiences shared by the siblings who envisioned this home. More than 300 pairs of hands contributed to shaping the final outcome, reflecting the modesty and collaboration inherent in the design.
Sustainable Adaptation
The architects employed reclaimed natural stone and salvaged wooden columns and beams, imbuing the home with sustainability and a connection to its surroundings. Limestone flooring and lime finish walls added texture and warmth, evoking a sense of continuity with the past while embracing the present.
