Architectural Design
The architectural layout mirrors the rectangular shape of the adjacent rice field, with the building elongated to offer panoramic views of the rice fields. Minimalist Construction Approach
atelier N adopted a minimalist approach to construction, aiming to preserve the primitive essence of the building. The structure was assembled without significant alterations, with the floor finished using a surface hardening agent applied to the basic concrete. Exposed foundations, pillars, and beams create a seamless transition between the interior and exterior, maintaining a connection with nature.
Integration with Surroundings
Approximately 300 cedar pillars, resembling giant noren curtains, adorn the outer perimeter of the building, adding to its aesthetic appeal while harmonizing with the landscape. These hanging pillars serve as louvers, enhancing ventilation and airflow within the restaurant. The design seamlessly integrates the restaurant into the neighboring rice fields, preserving the tranquil environment.
