Nestled in the picturesque hillside setting of Tsada Village in Paphos, Cyprus, Minthis Hills stands as a testament to luxurious hospitality and wellness. Developed in collaboration with Cypriot developer Pafilia, Woods Bagot’s London studio spearheaded the master planning, architecture, interior design, and branding services for this expansive resort-style development.
Embracing Local Antiquity and Premium Amenities
Minthis Hills offers a unique blend of local antiquity and modern amenities, aiming to provide guests with an unparalleled retreat-style experience. The project encompasses the creation of a new village center, villa development, and significant upgrades to an existing golf course and 16th-century monastery built in the Byzantine tradition.
Architectural Design
Inspired by the traditional Cypriot vernacular of the ‘mountain village,’ the villas at Minthis Hills exude charm with their pitched roofs, cypress timber, terracotta, and locally sourced limestone. Each villa is thoughtfully planned around a central courtyard, allowing for shade and natural ventilation—a nod to the region’s architectural heritage.
Village Square: A Modern Interpretation
The heart of Minthis Hills is its vibrant village square, known as ‘Palatia.’ This contemporary adaptation of the traditional Cypriot village square is a bustling hub, surrounded by art galleries, fashion boutiques, a fine wine cellar, a providore, and authentic eateries, creating a lively atmosphere for guests and residents alike.
Wellness Spa Experience
Spanning an impressive 2,400 square meters, the wellness spa at Minthis Hills offers a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation. Integrating indigenous herbs and plants, the spa utilizes essential oils and aromatherapy to create a holistic experience. From a lap pool and yoga studio to hydrotherapy and therapeutic treatments, guests are pampered amidst the serene backdrop of the Minthis estate.
Timber-Clad Treatment Rooms
Each timber-clad treatment room within the spa is a haven of tranquility. Designed to immerse guests in nature, these rooms feature indoor massage beds and outdoor foot massage zones, surrounded by fragrant citrus, pomegranate, or fig trees. This sensory experience, reminiscent of medieval iconography symbolizing rebirth, adds an extra layer of serenity to the spa journey.
