Project Overview
Located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Moretti Gin Bar represents the first distillery location for the family-owned company specializing in craft gin production. Estudio Grizzo Arquitectos undertook the task of creating a distinct identity for this establishment, drawing inspiration from the traditional gin distillation process and the craftsmanship behind it.
Design Concept
At the heart of the design concept are the copper stills, central to the gin distillation process. The interior design echoes the essence of the distillery, with polished steel and gray tones representing the laboratory work and refinement associated with gin production. The goal was to offer patrons an immersive experience characterized by various textures, roughness, and transparencies.
Material Exploration
Copper takes center stage in the material palette, reflecting the importance of this element in gin distillation. Discarded copper shavings were repurposed, integrated into textured white concrete panels covering the front facade and encapsulated within a copper-colored pigmented resin bar. The interplay of light through the resin accentuates the rustic texture of the concrete, adding depth to the space.
Botanical Elements
A creative touch is added with resin disks containing characteristic botanicals of the gin, reminiscent of distillation towers with portholes to monitor the manufacturing process. These disks adorn one side of the establishment, serving as both decorative elements and subtle nods to the craft behind the spirits served.
Vertical Axis Highlight
To emphasize the double height of the space, a grid tower was introduced, concealing the bathroom and storage area. Opal acrylic plates with interior lighting create a warm ambiance, acting as a beacon that draws visitors into the venue and enhances the verticality of the space.
The Moretti Gin Bar by Estudio Grizzo Arquitectos is a testament to innovative design and craftsmanship, offering patrons an immersive journey into the world of craft gin production amidst the vibrant atmosphere of Buenos Aires.
