Transparent Design

A shift towards transparency in the material palette contrasts with the former opaque concrete façade, creating a welcoming atmosphere at street level. A lacy scrim, evocative of a tree canopy, envelops the formal lobby, extending to an outdoor space for community events and gatherings.

Holistic Design Approach

The project embraces a holistic design approach, integrating concepts of dappled light throughout the structure, shading, materials, and lighting. Shading strategies reduce heat gain while promoting natural daylighting and views, connecting the building to the adjacent arboretum landscape.

Community-Centric Revitalization

The revitalized performing arts center aims to be more inclusive and reflective of the community. New, smaller performance venues offer opportunities for local artists to showcase their talents, while universal access ensures an inclusive experience for all patrons.
